Media Theory

It is Week 3 ! 

Today I will be discussing the theory I have chosen to incorporate and reflect in my project. As well as why I have chosen this theory. 

Theory's:

There are many different media theories that represent how Media is viewed and shown today. THese theories develop a further develop understanding, representations displayed throughout different media platforms. This can be represented in television, films, production companies, marketing and even social media platforms. These diverse theories help us understand how Media not only is being displayed but the thought of concept what the thought behind of the media is. With this knowledge opens up the awareness that these theorists develop through their research and findings within media. 

Theory incoporation:

The theory I have choosen to incorporate is the Gender Performativity Theory by Juidith Butler. Theory disscusses that gender roles are not natural concepts constructed within our society, but the repetiton within media of its roles are collectively understood. This theory reflects the aspect of my first representation being a female (woman) in a mental state. When most think of woman mentally unstable the reasons draw towards crack In their marriage or motherhood, or stress. This assumption of these causes broadcasted to all woman's mental instability isn't coherently correct as there are many reasons, many fall into mental demises. However, this "collective understanding" of how this woman which is unknown to the auidence is mentally unstable, the reasons of how she came to this. Thought this unknown but constructed analysis of how our character will represent this theory. 

Why this Theory ?

Why I have chosen this Theory is noteably from my perspective most horror films revolve mainly a male protagonist. While there are many movies that have changed this approach and used female representation as their main focus, there are still female character's or set charcateristic given to that female role. Therefore, is stereotypical but "collective" viewpoint of specific gender seen in this element of media. From our viewpoint and overall goals from this project it will be the auidences determination in a sense for the beginning portion of the film to determine her reasoning for being trapped mentally and physically. While the film will give key understanding to the character it will not reveal to much into detail of this answer. Suquently giving the auidences the creativity to analyze their viewpoint of this characters demise on how it began. 

Reflection:

Overall my final thoughts and vision is to clearly give the auidence "freedom" but as well display the factor of society's assumption of what ones gender roles or character is based on the opposite sex. Throughout Media this has been a constant debate and researched topic, as well as the introduction of additionally pronouns and gender community many have heatlily debated over this topic. With Butler's theory is a basis of how Media potray's these societal roles of gender within our everyday life's.
