Week 6!
Today's Blog will discuss the post production of the editing process. The process behind our editor Emma Gonzalez and how my group and myself collaboration and thoughts impacting our editing decisions.
Overview:
The main overview we had within our last group discussion was to clear any imperfections as well as add contrast, layering and color contrast within the editing of our film. For our scenes of flashbacks of Avery's memories wanted to show very distinctively within our production. Our plans to showcase this were incorporating non diegetic sound effects. For example a sound of static from a television would be main sound implemented within our production. Works to develop in glitching affect if possible. There are many difficulties with adding this specific effect due to when it used in films for example the film Se7en. Where the scenes are faster pace compared to our film which is a slower pace which would not elevate the use of the effect. Overall these elements were a rough idea of what would like to incorporate within our production.
Process:
While I myself am not the editor and have a hard time with editing, can explain through our editors eyes of the process and thoughts within her editing the production. First and foremost the resources! The tools used to edit of course are clip Champ and Adobe express. Luckily with our editor having verification in Adobe Premier gave us a huge advantage with having the right tools for editing. Bonus to this has her personal Mac Book with drive hooked with all footage from her camera to make transitioning our footage smoother and easier. The set back with this is when this drive is plugged in it drains much battery away from the computer. Therefore, leading to limited time during designated hours in class to finish an entire scenes.
As far as progress within editing isn't completed but is working on what is discussed in the objective as far as coloring. Using Lumetric color to enhance the colors as well as fix discoloration. While our shooting was filmed in proper lightning and coloring it still needs many editing and changes needed to give off the affect needed to create that mysterious feel within our opening. Emma as well used after effects to further emphasize the static and glitchy elements that we wanted to incorporate. She really focused on these elements to tie our editing as well into our title Static. Within our last group meeting we each separately received suggestions on incorporating elements if Static like sound or effects within our editing process. With this advice we of course had to follow up within our editing.
