Week 5!
Today's post will reflect on our groups production company logo. How did we come with a name? As well as designs that captivate the audience.
What is our name?
The name we choose which actually happy accident but funny overall. My group and I searched some words or phrases out of the box that could potentially add a fun test to our production name. We combined names like shutter films productions, ghost whisper productions, and even using a numbers and symbols in the name. Yet we never truly felt set on these names, it wasn't till my team member Emma that came up with idea of combining our names into one would be something unique. At first was just a simple laugh we thought until we actually took into affect combining our names. In result of this we developed J.E.C productions. The beginning of each of our first names was the easiest way that we could combine our names and really fit. From finally settling on a name we thought of many designs and colors or graphics or styles we wanted to incorporate within production logo. It was an exciting and surreal feeling that our film had a production and logo that we created on our own! From my analysis and critiques from my movie poster had confidence in producing better design and add animation.
The creation of the logo:
The ideas and thoughts of creating this logo were quite straight forward, when it came to its execution, it was slightly challenging and a lot more changes were made. My team and I looked at many fonts so many of them looked cool when first looking, when types it wasn't the vision everyone saw. We choose the Blanka font, it was something new and spunky we had never seen before when typed gave the first letter J a cool edge to the top of the J. Now with finding the right font was color choices and elements/design wanted to incorporate. Emma gave a suggestion since we used yellow for the last design, purple is the color corrector for yellow. Using this gave a new feel that would cancel out the harsh yellowing used in previous designs. For our J.E.C we colored a lavendar purple, yet we kept running into the troubles with yellow. We debated if in the productions at the bottom of our design should the text be purple, yellow, or plain black. As you can see in the editing process below the colors did shift as we analyzed and added more depth, the end result was in black. For elements my original idea was to incorporate film in some sort of way. I added a element of film roll it was cool at first, but did not suit the text and layout at all. When scrolling through more film tape elements I stumbled upon a camera element. It was perfect and quickly incorporated as the main element/design focus. With color, font, and design choosen all that was left was to add some details and animation. With another suggestion from Emma of adding a light sort of reflecting the words of our logo J.E.C to look as the camera was displaying them. This was the icing on the cake with some change of coloring and saturation and angling it was perfect. I spent roughly 30 mins properly timing both the lets to shown first before the text. Then carefully aligning the text to pop up when we see the light beaming from the camera, that would reflect altogethor J.E.C productions. Down below is the final clip itself along with the editing stages of what it looked like before the end result.
(Due to blogger being unable to add the video directly from my computer I've added the link to public view of the logo)
